FAQ

Q: What's the difference between a sensitive reaction and an allergic reaction?A:  A sensitive reaction is usually immediate and confined to the area of application. An allergic reaction can be immediate or delayed and can occur all over the body. Allergic reactions are often triggered by a small quantity of product and can vary in severity.
Q: Are your products tested on animals?
A: No, we do not test any of our products on animals. As they are natural products, we prefer to test on ourselves. If you would like to become a Nature’s Gold tester and trial new products, please contact us through our Facebook page.
Q: Are Nature's Gold products safe to use during pregnancy and on my newborn baby?
A:  As a general rule of thumb, honey is not recommended for pregnant women or children under the age of 12 months. Honey can occasionally contain the bacteria clostridium botulinum which is dangerous for babies if ingested as it can cause a rare form of food poisoning (botulism). This is because babies have undeveloped digestive systems that are not capable of fighting the bacteria. In saying that, our natural honey based Therapeutic Skin Cream is suitable for use externally on your baby’s skin and is a good treatment for nappy rash. As a precautionary measure, the Therapeutic Goods Administration requires our labelling to state that pregnant women should not use honey products.
Q: I think I have Eczema. What products will be best for me?
A: Eczema is a common skin complaint that usually begins with small red bumps that spread and itch. After an initial breakout, your doctor can diagnose eczema and may recommend a cortisone cream to bring an acute breakout under control. Our all natural Therapeutic Skin Cream provides ongoing relief from eczema and is gentle enough to use as often as required. For localised outbreaks, our Manuka Power Concentrated Ointment with 30% Manuka honey can help reduce redness, swelling and itchiness. Once your eczema is under control, our Manuka honey skincare products can be used daily to moisturise, protect and heal. You will find detailed information about Eczema and Dermatitis on our website.
Q: I have extremely sensitive skin, will your products affect me?
A: Nature’s Gold honey products such as goats milk soap with Manuka honey are made from natural ingredients and are suitable for all skin types. However, occasionally essential oils can trigger a sensitivity in some people so we suggest a small patch test before using a new product all over the skin. We also recommend you check the ingredient list on our website before purchasing, or email/phone us to discuss.
Q: Does stress affect your skin?
A:  Definitely. When stressed, the body sometimes produces extra oil which can lead to breakouts and other skin complaints. Even months after experiencing stress, the skin can react. Regular exercise, meditation, relaxing activities, a balanced diet and a good night’s sleep can all help reduce the stress in our lives.
Q:Is diet and nutrition an important factor in the health of my skin?
A: A balanced diet is essential for maintaining healthy skin. To ensure a radiant complexion you should eat a variety of fruits, vegetables and nutrient rich foods, plus drink plenty of water.
Q:  What are botanical ingredients?
A:  Botanical ingredients are those extracted from plants, including roots, flowers, seeds, fruits and herbs. Many of the Nature’s Gold skincare products contain Australian bush botanicals.
Q:  Why are botanical ingredients used in cosmetic and personal care products?A:  Some of the world’s first cosmetics were made from botanical ingredients. Fragrant oils were used to perfume, while the juices from plants were used to cleanse, moisturise and treat minor skin conditions.
Q:  Are Botanical ingredients safe?
A:  The safety of botanical ingredients is dependent on the source, quantity used and the method of exposure. The botanicals in skincare products are designed to be applied topically and not ingested. At Nature’s Gold, our scientists have spent many years researching and testing the natural Australian botanicals we use.
Q:  Do you use petroleum in your products?
A: We do not use petroleum in our skincare products. This is because petroleum can unbalance the skin’s natural oils and impact upon its ability to “breathe”. Petroleum is cheaper than natural plant extracts, which is why so many skincare manufacturers include it in their range.
Q:  I can purchase some skincare products much cheaper elsewhere. Why should I buy yours?
A:  There are so many skincare products on the market today and many of them have a low price tag. Before purchasing, make sure you check the ingredients list, as many cheaper brands use inexpensive chemicals with unpronounceable names which can be damaging for the skin. At Nature’s Gold, we only use wholesome, natural botanical ingredients and are not prepared to compromise our quality for price.
Q:  What are the benefits of having regular facials?
A:  Clear, radiant skin is the natural result of exfoliating on a regular basis. Combined with daily cleansing and moisturising, a regular facial will ensure your skin feels soft, smooth, moisturised and nourished.
Q:  How often should I exfoliate? And should I do it at night or in the morning?
A:  Most exfoliators are designed to use once or twice per week. For more frequent exfoliating, we recommend our Nature’s Gold Manuka Micro Face Scrub, which is gentle enough to use daily. It doesn’t matter if you exfoliate in the morning or at night, as long as your cleanse your skin first and follow the exfoliation with a quality toner and moisturiser.
Q:  Do I need to use a separate eye cream to my daily moisturiser?
A:  All Nature's Gold moisturisers are suitable for use around the eyes. This skin is thin and has no oil glands, which is why it dehydrates and wrinkles easily. Apply your moisturiser gently, making sure you don’t stretch the skin. Instead, gently dab with your fingertips.  Although we do have For your eyes only serum formulated specifically for the eye area with a rollerball applicator.
Q:  My skin looks and feels terrible after flying. Any suggestions?
A:  Flying can dehydrate the skin and body. To lessen the impact of a long haul flight on your skin, avoid wearing foundation makeup, don’t consume caffeinated beverages or alcohol, and drink plenty of water. Regularly spraying your face with Manuka Refresh Spritzer & Toner will keep skin revitalised and hydrated throughout your flight.
