Byron Bay Manuka Mahogany Blend 500g

A very unique, special, award winning honey!

Limited Edition - While stocks last!

Rarely do we have the opportunity to be able to offer something like our Byron Bay Manuka Mahogany Blend.

Some of our Manuka comes from the Byron Bay region where the bees are collecting nectar from the highly active Leptospermum (Manuka) bushes. This nectar is taken to the hives where the Manuka Honey is produced.

Most Manuka Honey has a distinctive taste which can be quite strong. With our Byron Bay Manuka Mahogany Blend, the bees have taken some Mahogany nectar together with the highly active Leptospermum and have produced an Active Manuka Honey with a rich, creamy and absolutely delicious taste. So much so, that it has won the award of the Best Tasting Honey at the recent Bangalow Show held in New South Wales.

We have very limited quantities of this rare honey, so avoid missing out and try what has been awarded, the best tasting honey!

Manuka honey is fast becoming known as liquid gold. What makes it so special is its unique non-peroxide activity. This naturally occurring chemical process boosts the antibacterial and antiseptic properties. Manuka honey’s unique value is recognised internationally and a long list of health benefits are associated with its use.

Medical grade Manuka honey is thought to help heal cuts, wounds, minor burns and abrasions. It is associated with the control of fungal infections, eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis and inflammation. It soothes insect bites and fights infections. As a beauty product it smooths, softens and makes skin radiant. Many people take Manuka honey orally for energy, immunity and digestive health.

Manuka honey is mono-floral, meaning it is made from one species of flower. It is produced by bees that have fed on the Leptospermum tree, which flowers fewer than six weeks a year and grows wild in Australia and New Zealand. While Manuka honey has only recently come under the spotlight, its use dates back centuries as a traditional Indigenous medicine.

Different honeys do have different potencies. Our Australian Manuka Honey is rated using the NPA system, which is an abbreviation for Non Peroxide Activity. Every batch of Manuka honey must be lab tested to determine its activity and how potent its active enzymes are. To be classed as therapeutic, Manuka honey must have a rating of 10+. The higher the NPA number, the higher the antibacterial activity and the more beneficial the honey will be for your health.

If you would like to read more about the benefits and unique properties of Manuka Honey as well as a more in-depth discussion of the ratings systems please have a read of this blog post.

Please note: No honey of any kind should be given to a child under 12 months old and if you are pregnant or likely to become pregnant.

Unfortunately our Manuka Honey cannot be sent to Western Australian because of their quarantine laws.
